What we check
Five things worth knowing about your site.
You do not need a developer to understand any of these. They're the checks we run at the start of our own projects, to see what a site is doing before we design anything.
- Speed
- Measured with Google's Lighthouse on a simulated phone, which is slower than a desktop. We report how long your main content takes to appear, whether the page shifts while it loads, and how large your homepage is. Speed is the item on this list your visitors notice most directly.
- Search visibility
- The basics that help Google list your pages properly: a title and description of the right length, one main heading, a preferred address for each page, a robots file that is not blocking the site by mistake, and a sitemap. Any further SEO work depends on these.
- AI readiness
- Whether AI assistants can read and describe your business. We look for structured data, check that your robots file is not blocking AI crawlers, and check that your links show a preview card when someone shares them. It's a newer area, and it's changing quickly.
- Trust and security
- Whether your site uses a secure connection (HTTPS), whether the insecure address redirects to the secure one, and whether anything on the page still loads insecurely. Browsers often block those items without warning, so parts of a page can fail to appear.
- Mobile
- Whether your page fits a phone screen, whether the text is large enough to read without zooming, and whether buttons are far enough apart to tap accurately. Many of your visitors are likely to be on a phone.
