Help with the website you already have.
This is for a website you already have, or one you have started yourself, on Squarespace, Wix or WordPress. It's not the custom site we would design and build from scratch, which is a larger piece of work. Here we work on the site that exists: fixing what's broken, improving what has drifted, and adding the pages you need.
Platforms
Four platforms, and what each one allows.
How much can be changed depends on the platform, and the differences are large. It's worth knowing which you're on before you decide what to ask for.
Squarespace
We work through the site's own CSS panel and code injection. That covers styling, new sections, most fixes and custom fonts. Some of it depends on which plan you're on, so we check your account before agreeing to anything.
Wix Studio
The newer Wix editor supports real layout control, custom code and your own fonts, so most design work is possible without fighting the platform.
Wix, the older editor
The original drag-and-drop editor is the hardest of the four to change, because of how it positions things on the page. We can still help. Some jobs are quicker to rebuild than to work around, and we'll say which case you're in before you commit.
WordPress
The most open of the four. With access to the files we can work on themes, templates and settings directly, so larger changes stay practical. Sites built with a page builder such as Elementor or Divi are slower to work on, and we'll tell you if yours is one.
What we do
A tweak, something broken, or a page that does not exist yet.
- Something is broken
- A form that does not arrive, images that fail to load, a page that falls apart on a phone. The fix is often small once the cause is found, and finding the cause is the part you cannot do from the editor.
- What the platform will not let you do
- You started it yourself and it does nearly what you want. The last stretch is where a platform usually stops cooperating: a layout that will not hold, a form that sends to the wrong place, a section the editor will not change. We can pick it up from where you are.
- A page you do not have yet
- A services page, a landing page for one offer, somewhere to send people from an ad. Built to sit inside your existing site, using what the platform allows.
- Design that has drifted
- Type sizes, spacing, buttons, forms and navigation. Small changes here are what make a site feel looked after, and they carry across every page at once.
- A site that loads slowly
- On small business sites the cause is usually large images, and compressing them is quick. Scripts left behind by tools you've stopped using are the next most common.
- Search and AI visibility
- Titles, descriptions, headings, structured data and the settings that let search engines list your pages properly. Our free health check lists what's missing, and we can work through the results with you.
- Email landing in spam
- When mail sent from your domain goes to spam, the cause is often in your DNS settings rather than your website. It's worth checking while we're already in there.
How it works
Admin access, a backup, and your priorities in order.
Working on a site someone else built asks you to trust a stranger with something that already earns you money. This is how we keep that reasonable.
You invite us in
We ask to be added as an admin or contributor under our own email address. We do not ask for your password, on any platform.
We take a copy first
Before anything changes we save what's there, so any single change can be put back without undoing the rest.
You set the order
You tell us what matters most. On hourly work we go down your list in order, so the time goes where you want it rather than where we happen to start.
You get a record of what changed
A short list of every change and where it lives, including which parts you can still edit yourself and which are now in code.
The job ends
There's no retainer here and nothing to cancel. If you want more done later, you ask for it then.
Paying for it
By the hour when a job cannot be predicted, fixed when it can.
A block of hours
Some jobs cannot be described accurately before they start. Troubleshooting is the clearest example: the cause might take ten minutes to find, or three hours.
So you buy a block of time at an hourly rate, give us your priorities in order, and we work down the list until the block is used. You know the most it can cost before we start, and you choose what gets done first.
A fixed price
Other jobs can be described precisely: a new page, or a design pass on a page we've already opened and understood.
Those get a fixed price agreed before any work starts, with one round of changes after you've seen it. The price holds whether the work takes us longer or shorter than we thought.
We'll tell you which of the two your job is once we've looked at your site, along with the rate or the price. Looking is free and takes us about twenty minutes.
